The Value of Knowledge Management

The presentation which will be focused on the fundamentals of Knowledge Management, providing a better understanding it’s practical applications and its role in efficient organizations.  Nate and Ben will discuss the differences between data, information and knowledge, how knowledge is created and how a formalized KM program can be a value-adding entity to any business processes.

Presenters

Nathan Aiken is a 2003 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he played baseball for 4 years, obtaining a BS in Political Science.  After serving in the Navy in a myriad of different officer positions including Damage Control Assistant, Combat Information Center and Operations Officer, and staff Anti-Terrorism Officer, Nate joined Booz Allen in 2008.  Nate has been involved in strategic planning, performance measurement, knowledge management and process improvement efforts with various clients including Navy Expeditionary Combat Enterprise, Naval Network Warfare Command, Navy Special Warfare Command, Navy Reserve Forces and United States Fleet Forces.  Nate is a Certified Knowledge Manager™ and a Change Management Advanced Practioner, who in his spare time competes in amateur golf tournaments and weight trains.

Benjamin Davis works on the Booz Allen KM team providing Knowledge Management expertise and training to various clients in the Hampton Roads area including Navy Expeditionary Combat Enterprise and United States Fleet Forces.  Ben is proficient in using Share Point as a component of KM including qualifications as a SharePoint Site Collection Administrator, Business Analyst, Content Administrator, Information Architect and User Experience Designer.  Ben is a Virginia Tech “Hokie” alumnus and a Certified Knowledge Management Professional™ as well as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Remember your items for the Food Bank.  For the month of August we are collecting complete meals (i.e., pasta and sauce, boxed meals, chunky soups, stews).
