A professional organization is a community of practice (CoP), a way for individuals interested in a way of working to come together to network and grow professionally. As a local chapter, SEVA has been growing and changing this last year. The Board has set and is reaching significant goals to improve our community of practice, including:
• Updated SEVA website
• Improved registration for upcoming events
• Groundbreaking networking social
• Establishment of career transition support (Career Club)
• Successful conference highlighting the expertise of our community
• Partnership with the Atlanta chapter to provide synchronous online support for CPLP candidates
We are working towards updating the by-laws and establishing better transparency in SEVA ASTD Board actions.
We need your input to continue moving towards a more vibrant and engaged chapter membership. It’s YOUR SEVAundefinedwhat do you want from your membership? What value do you want the chapter to add to your professional development?
On Tuesday, August 9th , 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Booz Allen Hamilton, 5800 Lake Wright Drive, Norfolk, 23502 we will be having a planning session for the Chapter’s future. Open to members and non-members alike, we want to explore with YOU what your vision of SEVA isundefinedwhat are we doing right, what could we be doing better, and what do we need to do that we have not been doing. Using Appreciate Inquiry as a theoretical base, we will explore our future and commit to some next steps for our Chapter.
